Our Story

Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a chronic, relapsing, inflammatory skin disorder that usually starts early in life, and can have a significant impact on the quality of life of affected individuals as well as their families. 

The prevalence of eczema is on the rise. Many people either suffer personally from eczema, or know someone who does. This could be due to a combination of genetic and environmental factors; including urbanization, increased air pollution, harsh detergents, and a stressful and unhealthy lifestyle. Living with eczema can range from mildly annoying, to downright harrowing.

Despite the array of products available on the market, dealing with pruritus (itch) and flare-ups can still prove to be a difficult task, as many of these products only provide short-term relief.  Side effects may also arise from products that contain counter-irritants such as menthol, camphor, and methyl salicylate, and from long term use of topical steroids.

Origin of AEIRCREME

Dr Peng has witnessed the frustration and suffering of many people with eczema and dermatitis issues. Dr Peng’s own sister developed severe eczema. It made her scratch relentlessly and the itchiness and irritation disturbed her sleep. Even doctor-recommended treatments such as topical creams and steroids could not cure her eczema, nor provide any itch relief. Eventually, after prolonged use of these treatments, Dr Peng’s sister experienced heightened sensitivity to some of them, and application caused her eczema to sting and worsen.

Frustrated by the lack of options for her family, Dr Peng began her journey to help her family, as well as others who suffered from eczema. After surveying many eczema sufferers, Dr Peng found that they often suffered the same plight as her sister. Eczema products that were already on the market were simply not effective for many people. 

Delving deeper, Dr Peng investigated and found that the eczema creams offered on the market all worked in a similar manner and used the same type of ingredients. As everyone’s skin is different, this meant that while these products may work for some people, there were many people who could not find treatment or relief, since no matter how many products they tried, they were all based on extremely similar formulas. If one did not work, then neither would another.

Since there were no options for purchase, Dr Peng decided to formulate her own. She wanted to create a cream that would target the eczema concerns that current products failed to address. 

Itch relief was the first and foremost concern, but Dr Peng found that it was something that could not be addressed without also eliminating controversial ingredients such as parabens, menthol, and peppermint, all of which risk irritating the skin while seemingly providing relief. 

Dr Peng trawled through countless peer-reviewed research papers and carefully selected ingredients with scientifically proven efficacy, thus creating the first version of Aeircreme. Featherlight and non greasy, it was found to be impressive in its ability to relieve itch and, with continuous application, could even return skin to its original, pristine state. 

While Dr Peng was happy that her sister was no longer suffering, she was not satisfied with this initial version. Eczema causes such sensitivity that Dr Peng wanted to ensure that Aeircreme could address the multitude of concerns with utmost efficacy and gentleness. Dr Peng spent the next few years improving the formulation to achieve the highest possible potency and effectiveness while ensuring that it was compatible with inflammation prone skin. 

After over twenty rounds of testing, receiving feedback from volunteers, and reformulation based on test results and further research, AEIRCREME was created.
